| Brother Bill Tarr - Elks President |
As the 80th Provincial President of the Saskatchewan Elks Association, I would like to thank the Regina and Craven Conference Committee for their hard work and effort in planning and organizing the Annual Conference that was held in Regina. The conference was a huge success!
This year's theme is "Not I.Q. but I Will". Everyone understands and appreciates the importance of intelligent, visionary leadership in all organizations. An integral part of Elkdom organizational success depends upon the "willingness" of individuals to become actively involved and ready to volunteer their time, skills and abilities in order to strengthen lodges in every community across Saskatchewan. Too many times we have great ideas but fail to put any effort into applying ourselves in order to see the idea through to fulfillment. Every member has something to contribute - talents and expertise - and we must learn to use these resources wisely, both to entice new members to join and to support existing members. "Where there is a will there is a way".
We can be proud of the many areas of service in which we are already involved:
- through our National Charity, the "Fund for Children", we reach out to any child in need;
- our support of the Sask. Pediatric Auditory Rehabilitation Center in Saskatoon provides for the treatment of children with hearing and speech impairment;
- fund raising efforts go directly to addressing the concern of youth addictions. Educational programs create an awareness of the consequences of illegal substance abuse and addictive behaviors, in turn promoting healthy choices; and,
- in Saskatchewan owning and managing Homes for Seniors in Esterhazy, Moose Jaw, Nipawin, Prince Albert and Rosetown. We anticipate the inclusion of Hanley in the near future and perhaps others.
Becoming an Elk member provides men and women with an opportunity for fellowship within their own community and across the province. Provincial events such as curling, bowling, golf, darts, walk-a-thons and snowmobiling provide opportunities for enduring friendships to develop.
I wish everyone a good year and I look forward to meeting you during my term of office.
| Lady Shirley Thera - Royal Purple President |
Welcome all Saskatchewan Provincial Elks and Royal Purple Members
On behalf of all the members of the Saskatchewan Royal Purple Provincial Association, I bring you greetings.
My association with Royal Purple began some 34 years ago, and on June 13, 2009, was honored with the title of Provincial President in Regina. I have been a member of Radville Royal Purple Lodge # 344, then a proud member of one of the first Canadian joint lodges between Radville Elks & Radville Royal Purple and now a member of Estevan Royal Purple Lodge # 74.
My theme for the year is Think Positive - Speak Positive - Be Positive.
As human beings, there is nothing we cannot accomplish when we do not allow negativity or pessimism into our lives. When we challenge ourselves daily to find the positive in all situations, it is then our responsibility to act on that positive with ourselves and others.
I challenge all of you to make being a positive force in your family, workplace, lodge, association, as a volunteer and a human being.
Life is what you make it - not what life makes you...
The Saskatchewan Royal Purple Provincial Association Executive and members look forward to a positive working relationship with the Saskatchewan Elks Provincial Association Executive and members, and wish them all the very best in the upcoming year.
Think Positive - Speak Positive - Be Positive
